A Stage IV Cancer Diagnosis Made Me Question Everything
And I realize now that it’s time for a creative change
I haven’t posted here in quite some time, and with good reason. An unexpected stage IV ovarian cancer diagnosis almost two years ago — has it really been that long?! — put an unexpected damper on my creative efforts. Restoring my health overshadowed everything and continues to be my focus today.
But it’s not just the physical and emotional drain of a life-altering diagnosis that prevented me from spending much time here. Medium has changed since I first joined in 2020. What began as a transition from corporate work to full-time writing never really brought the success or enjoyment I hoped for. And, as I continue to undergo regular treatments — accompanied by some pretty uncomfortable side effects — my ability to read and write is understandably limited.
This does not change my desire to help others facing similar struggles and to share how wonderfully God has blessed me. I believe Substack is a better fit for these goals. No writing for likes or partner program earnings… No submitting my work to publications or trying to understand the ever-changing algorithm.
Just a raw look at the journey I never expected… That ultimately transformed my life for the better.
I hope you will consider joining me there. Access is free; you simply need to provide your email address if you want to receive notifications whenever I post about my cancer journey.
For those who reached out and prayed for me during this difficult time, I am truly grateful for your support.
May God bless you all.
